Orthopaedic Surgeon

Derek Carr is an Australian and Internationally trained specialist orthopaedic surgeon with an interest in the orthopaedic management of shoulder and knee conditions. Derek became a fellow of the Royal Australian College of Surgeons after completion of his orthopaedic training in Melbourne Victoria. In addition he completed 18 months further fellowship training in both open and arthroscopic surgery of the knee and shoulder in Canada and Europe. Derek is skilled in both arthroscopic and arthroplasty surgery of the shoulder and the knee joints.

• Management of acute orthopaedic sports related knee and shoulder trauma
• Knee reconstructions
• Knee joint replacement
• Meniscus preservation
• Cartilage preservation
• Shoulder decompressions
• Shoulder replacement surgery
• Shoulder stabilisation surgery
• Arthroscopic surgical interventions

Derek consults and operates from Cabrini Brighton and Linacre Private hospitals.

Derek maintains a commitment to public health with his consultant appointments within Southern health and Alfred health care networks
